TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE PERFECT WEDDING STATIONERY

Some couples know exactly how they want their wedding stationery to look. They have spent time poring over images on Pinterest and Instagram and can pinpoint exactly the style they are after. Others may have received a wedding invitation they love and want something similar. Sometimes couples choose a design from one of our Customisable Collections and that process is relatively straightforward involving perhaps a few tweaks here and there. Some clients request a completely bespoke design.

Many couples however have no idea where to begin and really need some guidance to help them decide on a design or a theme for their wedding stationery.

Overwhelmed By The Choice

It is very easy to become overwhelmed by the huge choice of styles, finishes and formats of invitations that are currently available. There are a number of ways you can approach this and the following are some of my suggestions for you.

Keep It Simple

Very often Simplicity is the key. Foxglove have a number of very simple customisable collections which will work well in almost every context. For example, Simple White is a range which is printed on a delicately textured Italian white card. With classic and elegant typefaces and delicate little foliage motifs this really makes a lovely invitation set. You can customise colours this range to have it work with your wedding colour scheme or you can keep the colour a neutral grey. Another way to make this range a little more unique is to choose a beautiful patterned or floral envelope liner that may pick up on some of the flowers and colours from your wedding bouquet. You can also add some accent foiling, a bellyband, a vellum wrap or a wax seal to make it a little more special.

Remain Neutral

The Neutral Colour palette is characterised by more subtle and muted colours and tones. Think greys, whites, blues, but also more subtle colour tones of dusky pink, muted greens and warm earthy cinnamon & clay tones are included in this gorgeous palette. Scandinavian design has been a big influence in this design trend, they’ve been doing it brilliantly for years. Foxglove’s collection Modern Neutrals or Simple Botanical would be ideal if you are attracted to this style of design. Colours can all be customised and we can work with you to create a beautiful combination of tones and colours. Designs can be made distinct by placing the emphasis on beautiful typography rather than on pattern or elaborate illustration. Another advantage of the neutral palette is how well it will work with the current floral trend of paler dried flowers and grasses and more muted and natural wedding bouquets.

Let the venue dictate your style

Another way to decide on the theme of your wedding stationery is to take inspiration from your wedding venue. For example, if you are getting married in a venue that has beautiful architecture and interiors and lots of history then you can have a field day taking inspiration from some interior design features such as wallpapers and fabrics, or from the beautiful period building and its grounds. If you are having an outdoor celebration then you might want to go for a more rustic or boho style. We have a number of collections that may be right for your wedding venue. For example, Elegant Florals takes inspiration from beautiful antique textile design and our more rustic & earthy ranges such as Foxglove & Fern, The Glen or Beltaine take inspiration from beautiful wild floras and foliage.
